Background & History

Created by Jon Santer while at Bruno's in San Francisco, CA, this cocktail became a staple and more widely known once he moved to the acclaimed Bourbon & Branch.

The original bourbon used was Bulleit, which is where the cocktail gets its name.

Notes & Review

A nice alternative to a Manhattan or Old-Fashioned. The simplicity is great, and the disparate ingredients come together nicely at different points. Nose of orange with a lingering coffee and bourbon finish. A good sipper for the late hours.

We stayed true to the original with Bulleit bourbon, used Mr. Blacks for the coffee liqueur, and used Feegans (half Fee Brothers, half Regan's) for the orange bitters.
