About Us

It all began in the spring of 2019, with a gift from my wife - the first Death & Co cocktail book. We had lived in New York City for 10+ years and had just moved to San Diego earlier that year. Unfortunately, we had only frequented Death & Co in person once or twice, but the book brought back memories of New York, and the many fine establishments it offers. So I guess maybe it began before 2019; it probably began the first time I stepped into one of those establishments.

In any case, like many who get the Death & Co book, I started making my way through its pages, and noting the cocktails I could make with ingredients on-hand -- there weren't many. So I noted the ingredients I needed to buy to make the tastiest sounding. But soon that became untenable and it was impossible to tell which integredients would really give me the best bang for my buck. If I bought Zirbenz Stone Pine Liqueur, how many drinks could I make with it?

And thus, Cocktail Love was born. It's been a labor of love over the past several years, sometimes not getting any love itself for many months on end, but occasionally improved in fits and spurts.
